What's included
A fire pit is one of the highest-use features we build — it's the reason a patio gets used on a Tuesday night in October instead of just July afternoons. The build quality that matters most is underneath and around it: a non-combustible base, correct clearance from structures and combustible materials, and for gas units, a properly coordinated gas line.
Wood-burning pits are simpler to build and run but need spark control and clearance planning. Gas features light instantly, run cleaner, and integrate with landscape lighting and controls, but need a licensed gas line rough-in coordinated before the surrounding hardscape goes down.
We build the fire feature as part of the same hardscape plan as any seat wall, patio, or paver surface around it — not as a separate add-on bolted in afterward.
How it works
Step by step, here's what actually happens on site:
- 1Check site clearances from structures, fencing, and combustible materials
- 2Excavate and install a compacted, non-combustible base
- 3Build the fire pit structure — block or stone, with a proper interior liner
- 4For gas units, coordinate a licensed gas line rough-in and shutoff before finishing
- 5Finish with stone veneer, a cap, and a spark arrestor screen if wood-burning
- 6Integrate surrounding seating, patio, or seat wall into the same build
