What's included
Low-voltage (12V) landscape lighting is the standard for residential path, step, and accent lighting — it's safe to install without a licensed electrician for most runs, cheap to operate, and flexible enough to light paths, uplight trees and walls, and mark steps for actual safety, not just looks.
The part that's easy to get wrong is the transformer. Undersize it for the total fixture wattage and the far end of a long run ends up visibly dimmer than fixtures near the transformer — a common problem with lighting installed as an afterthought instead of planned as a system.
We plan fixture placement (paths, steps, features worth uplighting) as part of the overall hardscape and planting design, size the transformer to the real total load, and set up timers or photocells — including smart, app-controlled options — so it actually gets used instead of forgotten.
How it works
Step by step, here's what actually happens on site:

- 4Set and aim fixtures at night, when you can actually see the effect
- 5Program a timer, photocell, or smart control
Why Ironwood
Transformers are sized to the full lighting plan up front, so fixtures at the far end of a run aren't visibly dimmer than the ones near the transformer.
Lighting gets planned alongside hardscape and planting, not added as an afterthought once everything else is finished.
Fixtures get aimed and adjusted at night, on site, since that's the only way to actually see if the effect is right.

Is low-voltage lighting really enough, or do I need full electrical?
For nearly all residential path, step, and accent lighting, 12V low-voltage is the standard — it's safer, cheaper to run, and plenty bright for these applications.
Can lighting be added after my patio and planting are already done?
Yes, though it's easier and less invasive to run cable during the build. We can still add it to a finished yard.
How long do the fixtures last?
Quality LED landscape fixtures typically run for many years with minimal maintenance — we'll walk you through what we install and its expected lifespan.
Can I control the lighting from my phone?
Yes, smart/Wi-Fi timer and photocell options are available if you want app or voice control instead of a basic mechanical timer.
